Puppies 3/8-3/12

The puppies are now down to their last two letter people.  This was a fun week with Mr. Q who was covered with questions!  It was also a wonderful reinforcement to know that Mr. Q has an older brother that is very "quiet."  This comes in handy sometimes with twelve little puppies!

We ended the week with our St. Patrick's Day party with everyone wearing green.  Miss Renie and Miss Kelly didn't have to pinch anyone!  We ate rainbow cupcakes and went on a treasure hunt for gold.  Each puppy went home with their own gold hunt game to play with over spring break.

Speaking of spring break, we hope each of our puppies enjoys their spring break, and we pray for safe travels for those of you traveling this week.  We will see each of you on Monday, March 22nd!

Ducklings 3/1-3/5

Dear Duckling Parents,

March is here and our Ducklings have a touch of Spring Fever! We are getting to play outside a little more often lately…and if it is too cold or wet we go to the gym in the Family Life Center . So keep sending those jackets and put on shoes little ones can run in because they are on the move!

You should have received your March calendar (if not let us know and we’ll get one to you). Last week we learned the letter S with Spotty Snake. We also began reading Dr. Seuss books and talking about animals and of course we are always reviewing colors and shapes and counting – Yes!...we are busy Ducklings!

Our caterpillars have arrived. The Duckling Class has its own Butterfly Garden . We will keep you updated on our new little friend’s progress.

Reminder:

We are closed the week of March 15 – 19 for Spring Break.

Happy birthday Emoree and Linley!

Friday March 12, dress as your favorite animal or wear something with an animal on it.

Puppies 3/1-3/5

It was letter X week and the highlight of our week was viewing x-rays of Susan's little brother, Sam.  Thankfully, the chest x-rays showed clear lungs and strong bones, both of which were fascinating to your little puppies!  Thanks for sharing Susan!  Also,  Miss Kelly created a huge X Marks the Spot picture scavenger hunt all throughout the church for the puppies to follow.  We started at Miss  Mindy's desk, just outside of our classroom and ended in the long hallway on the second floor with a trail of x's leading to the basket of treasures (coloring books and crayons).  This might have topped our hunt for escaped dinosaurs we do when we've had too much rain and not enough playground time!

Next week is Miss Q week as we wind down our last month of letter people.  Your puppies have a fun surprise in store for you all at the end of our year together.  Just wait until you see them put all their letter people together.  I'm already beaming with pride and I know you will too!

Lambs 3/1-3/5

What crazy weather we are having lately!  It sure was nice to be able to take all our little lambs to the playground on Monday.  It was a perfect day to be outside and the kids really enjoyed the run, jump, and scream time in the sun.  Please continue to send jackets, even on days that we expect milder weather.  With jackets, we can make sure to get outside or the Family Life Center to run out some energy and have a bit of free play with friends.

As always, we are learning a new letter friend each week.  Last week we learned about Mr. P with his pointy patches.  The week started with finger painting with pudding.  Everybody had a fun time and there was a lot of laughter and giggles during this craft.  We hope you have been able to spend some time helping your child cut out the pointy patches puzzle we sent home last Wednesday.  What a great time we had celebrating Braeden's birthday on Friday with PIZZA.  This week, we have been learning about Mr. Quiet Q.

Please continue to help your child with number recognition, especially 1-10, and reinforce letter recognition and sounds A-Q.  Everyone in the class can now recognize their name, but we are focusing on learning to write our names.  A great way to do it at home would be to write your child's name for him or her as a tracing pattern.  We are always glad to talk with you individually about your child's progress.

Bunnies 2/22-2/26

Hey Parents!  All of our little bunnies are learning so fast!  They are talking so much more than they were and we are beginning to see what all they have learned.  Each day when we talk about colors, shapes, numbers, ABC's, animals sound and actions, each child is beginning to be able to show what they know and I am so impressed!  It's very exciting to see them excited about learning and how making up silly songs to teach them is working great for them.  They are more excited about coloring than most anything right now.  They love the new crayons we have in our classroom that fit on the ends of their fingers.  They get to change colors as often as they want, but they have to tell us the color they want in order to get it-a great way to learn more colors!  They have learned to hold hands to walk out to the playground-which is a little crazy some days-but they are trying so hard to figure it all out!  Keep checking the blog for updates and hopefully some fun pictures of your sweet bunnies!

Puppies 2/22-2/26

We had so much fun at our Pirate Party for P week!  Many thanks for Addison's mommy for providing us with pizza on Friday to go with our purple cow milkshakes as well.  I know several parents have been frustrated by their pickly little puppy tummies.  Based on Friday's lunch, pizza seems to be an all around favorite.  But don't despair!  We have also been visited by a cottontail bunny.  This past week we tried something.  If a child ate a fruit or vegetable that was packed in their lunch, a cottontail magically appeared in their belt loop or on their seat.  Anything to encourage those healthy eating habits!

We are entering the last month of introducing our letter people!  That means that in the next four weeks will be visited by Mr. X, Mr. W, Mr. Y, and finally, Mr. Z.  Good luck with show and tell for X week, puppy parents!
